I don't care what anyone says; I don't care that it has an 8.4 rating on IMDB, There Will Be Blood is one of the worst movies I've seen as a long time. Some quotes off of user comments on IMDB from someone who likes the film are:
- "It is a powerful and emotionally draining experience."
- "There Will Be Blood will leave audiences feeling exhausted and with a bitter taste in their mouths."
Call me crazy but that just does NOT describe a good film to me, accurate as it is. Frankly it's discouraging, as a filmmaker/writer that THIS is what people/critics like. The fact that I don't get it though is a relief. I don't want to relate, understand or appreciate a film like this. I don't want to be on the same page as it. Maybe I can't "see" it clearly but that's because it's so dark as to be unrecognizable. And I'm perfectly happy leave it there in the dark, where it belongs.
